Rethinking Preaching

The gospel has remained the same, but methods of communication have dramatically changed.  As a result, the kind of message that reached the last generation often misses the present one.  A re-think of preaching is needed.  This workshop will take us step by step through preparing a message that can be heard, understood, and applied to how we live.  We’ll work together on a model that starts with the lectionary passages for the week and finishes with an outline ready for preaching.  Bring your ideas, your Bible, a notebook and pen (or laptop).

Andrew Gammon is an Accredited minister of the Baptist Churches of New Zealand and in Full Connexion with the Methodist Church of New Zealand Te Hāhi Weteriana O Aotearoa.  He is minister at Waitoki Community Church and currently doing a supply at East Coast Bays Methodist Parish.

His colourful and varied ministry has included such diverse activities as being an on-air radio host, visiting field projects in Outer Mongolia with World Vision International, staying in a Hutterite Community and touring European Reformation sites with a group of Schwenckfelders.

 Andrew is married with four children and four grandchildren.  On his days off he is in his boat, just out of sight from Manly Beach on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula catching snapper for tea.  In his spare time, he writes the weekly lectionary resource, Taking Flight.
